State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is one of the largest oil companies in the world. SOCAR is expanding worldwide. It has already established subsidiaries in several countries. In November 2006 SOCAR established own Representation in Georgia.

On Friday the ceremony of opening first three petrol stations of SOCAR was held in Baku. This year the company SOCAR Petroleum intends to open in Azerbaijan seven more petrol stations under the brand SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic). Investments to build petrol stations in Azerbaijan amount to 20 million manats.

The official visit of the government delegation of Azerbaijan Republic to Tbilisi headed by the Minister of Economic Development of Azerbaijan Republic Mr. Shahin Mustafayev and Vice-president of SOCAR Mr. Suleyman Gasimov started by laying flowers on the bust of the national leader of Azerbaijan Republic Heydar Aliyev. The Black Sea oil terminal of Kulevi of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic) trans-shipped four million tons of oil cargo since it began functioning, stated the terminal message. The oil terminal was handed for operation in May 2008.
10.04.10SOCAR increases sale of Azerbaijani oil products in Georgia
In March 2010, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) sold about 33,200 tons of Azerbaijani oil products at the Georgian market compared to 20,100 tons in February.
Of the total volume of oil products sold in March at the Georgian market, petrol accounted to about 13,320 tons, diesel fuel to about 15,030 tons, aviation kerosene - 4,000 tons, bitumen - 520 tons, fuel oil to 235 tons and lubricating oil to 119 tons.
07.04.10Azerbaijan, Romania and Georgia will sign the gas agreement
On April 10-14 a memorandum of understanding "On Cooperation in the Sphere of Gas Provision" will be signed in Bucharest within the framework of the visit of the Minister of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan Mr.Natik Aliyev.
The document will be signed between the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment of Romania, Ministry of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Energy of Georgia.

In January-March of the current year SOCAR Georgia Gas, Ltd (a daughter enterprise SOCAR Energy Georgia, Ltd) sold about 62 million cubic meters of commercial gas at the Georgian market.
In January 20.88 million cubic meters of gas were sold compared to 21.8 million cubic meters in February. In March, according to preliminary data, this index should amount to 19 million cubic meters.
In 2009 about 138 million cubic meters of commercial gas were sold at the Georgian market.

On April 5th, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is planning to put into operation the first petrol station in Azerbaijan under its own brand.
The total amount of SOCAR petrol stations in Azerbaijan will amount to 26 units.
The 9th Georgian International Oil, Gas, Energy and Infrastructure Conference and Showcase GIOGIE 2010 was held in Tbilisi, at a new venue - the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel, on 24-25 March. The company SOCAR Georgia Gas, Ltd was the Lead Sponsor of event.
GIOGIE 2010 attracted over 150 delegates from 15 countries and was officially supported by the Ministry of Energy of Georgia, Ministry of Environmental Protection & Natural Resources, British Georgian Chamber of Commerce (BGCC) and Georgian Oil & Gas Corporation (GOGC).
